# Syften > Syften is an AI-filtered keyword monitoring tool for online communities. It helps founders, marketers, support teams, and agencies find relevant public conversations about their brand, competitors, customer pain points, and buying-intent phrases. Syften monitors Reddit, Hacker News, Indie Hackers, X/Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky, Mastodon, GitHub, blogs, news sites, forums, Stack Exchange sites, Product Hunt, Lobste.rs, Dev.to, Steemit, podcasts, newsletters, and selected Slack communities. It sends matching conversations by email, Slack, RSS, API, or webhook. Common use cases: - Brand monitoring: track a company name, product name, domain name, founder name, and common misspellings. - Competitor monitoring: track competitor names, competitor domains, competitor products, founder names, and social accounts to see which recommendation, comparison, support, and buying-intent threads they appear in. - Social account monitoring: track public handles and usernames such as X/Twitter handles, GitHub usernames, Reddit usernames, and forum usernames. - Lead generation: find posts and comments from people asking for recommendations, alternatives, tools, help, and comparisons. - Customer research: watch recurring pain points, feature requests, complaints, and category discussions across communities. - Support escalation: catch public posts about bugs, outages, integrations, and product confusion. - Agency workflows: tag filters for different customers, brands, competitors, or campaigns, then route each customer's matches to separate Slack channels, RSS feeds, API consumers, webhooks, or reporting workflows. Syften is good for: - Reddit keyword monitoring and alerts. - Competitor monitoring across community discussions. - Monitoring competitor domain names, including subdomains and common obfuscated forms such as example[.]com. - Tracking competitor social accounts and seeing which public threads they are active in. - Community monitoring across technical, startup, SaaS, marketing, and niche forums. - Routing different filter groups to different Slack channels or automated API workflows. - AI filtering to reduce spam, weak matches, repetitive posts, and other noisy keyword results while preserving human conversations worth acting on. Important limits: - Syften does not monitor LinkedIn or Facebook. - Syften is focused on public or supported community sources. It is not a general web crawler. - For current pricing and plan limits, use the pricing page rather than cached information. ## Canonical Pages - [Syften: Live Keyword Alert Monitoring for Online Communities](https://syften.com/): Main Syften homepage with the product summary and pricing section. -
