About Syften
Syften is a bootstrapped project led by Michał Mazurek, based in Kraków, Poland.

Michał graduated from the Department of Computer Science at Wroclaw University in 2014 and spent his career as a programmer and systems administrator. He has been programming since he was 12 and running servers since he was 14, always with his trusty 1989 IBM Model M keyboard. The highlight of his career was becoming a member of the OpenBSD project. In April 2018, he left his job and started his own business.
After creating a few unsuccessful products, one finally started to gain some traction. To find more customers, Michał wrote a script that would notify him whenever someone mentioned a particular phrase on Reddit. He shared this script on Indie Hackers, where it received a very warm reception. It turned out the script was far more popular than the tool it was originally created for, so he switched to working on it full-time.
We named the tool Syften, inspired by an Old English verb meaning to sift, strain, or percolate; to pass through a riddle. See https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/syften.
