How this subreddit finder works

The finder searches seven completed days of public posts in Syften's Reddit archive. It looks for your words in post titles or text, so it can find communities whose names don't mention your topic. For searches with several words, all words must appear in the title or all in the post text.

“Most relevant” balances the number of matching posts with how concentrated the topic is in each community, giving title matches extra weight. This helps smaller, focused communities appear alongside larger ones. “Most matching posts” sorts the same shortlist by discussion volume.

Each recommendation needs at least five matching posts from at least three authors. Comments aren't counted: one busy thread shouldn't outweigh several separate discussions. We exclude personal profile feeds, posts marked NSFW, and communities where at least half the observed posts are marked NSFW. Results are cached for 24 hours.

Choose a community worth joining

Read the example posts to check whether people mean the same thing you do. A word can describe several different interests, and a passing mention doesn't always make a community relevant. Try alternative terms if your topic has several names.

Open a community's stats to check its overall activity and find similar subreddits through shared commenters. Read its rules before posting; relevance doesn't mean promotion is welcome. You can also browse the most active subreddits.

Subreddit finder FAQ

Is this subreddit finder free?

Yes. You can search for communities, read the example posts, and open their stats without creating an account.

Why doesn't a subreddit appear?

The finder recommends communities with enough recent matching posts in our archive. A quiet community, one that uses different words, or one with unavailable posts may not appear. These results describe observed activity, not every subreddit or its subscriber count.

Can I get alerts for new discussions?

Yes. Syften's Reddit keyword monitoring tracks new posts and comments across Reddit or in communities you choose, with email and Slack alerts.
